Historic Preservation Commission

The Pennington Historic Preservation Commission was established by a Borough Ordinance in 2011 to preserve the unique character of Pennington’s Crossroads Historic District encompassing those areas of Main Street and Delaware Avenue that showcase architectural styles of the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. The Commission serves as a resource to residents in the District who wish to make exterior, street-facing changes to their properties. Its goal is to review and provide guidance to homeowners for maintenance, restoration, and development of properties that are in keeping with the architectural character of the historic heart of Pennington, and to discourage demolition of historic structures. Where necessary, the Commission issues a Certificate of Appropriateness for proposed work in the District. The Commission meets when it has business to conduct on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm, and may be contacted at planning@penningtonboro.org.  Please see the Borough Calendar for specific dates and times.
